Once you have mastered such excercises, you will find that whenever you work Magick your mind more easily slips into the relaxed state of visualization and the quality of your ritual, and the ourcomes therein, will imporve dramatically. Remember, the Four Powers of the Magus (Magician) are To Know, To Dare, To Will, and To Be Silent. It doesn't matter how much knowledge you have acquired, nor how much you use it, if you aren't fortifying your Magick with your will and your visualization, then you're not doing Magick.
